Professor Siniša Savić is a Professor of Clinical Immunology with internationally recognised expertise in primary immunodeficiencies, systemic autoinflammatory disorders, chronic urticaria, and drug allergies. He combines a strong academic profile with extensive clinical experience, providing specialist care for patients with complex immune-mediated conditions.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at Newcastle University and was awarded a PhD from the University of Leeds in 2010. Following completion of his full-time clinical training in immunology in 2011, he continued to develop his academic and research career and was appointed Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Leeds in 2012.

In October 2016, Professor Savić joined the University of Leeds as a Clinical Associate Professor, after serving as a full-time Consultant Immunologist at St James’s University Hospital within the NHS. • Lead Clinician for Clinical Immunology and Allergy, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT)
  • Clinical Director, Leeds NIHR BioResource Centre
  • Chair, British Society for Immunology – Clinical Immunology Professional Network (BSI-CIPN)

As Clinical Director of the Leeds NIHR BioResource Centre, Professor Savić leads infrastructure supporting the recruitment of patients with rare diseases into national and international research studies, including those with PID and SAID.

Research Interests

Professor Savić leads an active research group focused on understanding the genetic basis of rare inborn errors of immunity, particularly primary immunodeficiencies and systemic autoinflammatory disorders. His work has contributed to the discovery and characterisation of several novel immune-mediated conditions, significantly advancing knowledge of immune system physiology and the mechanisms underlying inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

His research interests also include:

  • Pathogenesis and management of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU)
  • Drug allergies
  • Inflammatory complications and immunopathogenesis of cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis

He has developed internationally recognised clinical services for patients with chronic urticaria, drug allergies, immunodeficiencies, and autoinflammatory disorders, closely integrating clinical care with translational research.

Clinical Trials

Professor Savić has extensive experience in phase II and phase III clinical trials, serving as Chief Investigator in four trials and Principal Investigator in six trials. Findings from these studies have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine.
